For those of you who are unaware, I purchased an Asus EEE PC (701 4G) a few months ago. The idea was to have an ultra portable laptop I could use on the bus (since I’ve got a daily commute which is roughly an hour long, each way. It’s a great little ultra portable which I get a lot of use out of (I’ve drafting this post on the bus with it).
It comes with an Linux based operating system out-of-the-box. The Linux OS is great, everything just works as it should and is very easy to adapt to. However, in the end I put Windows XP on it for simplicity. My home PC is windows based, as is my work PC, so it’s just easier to keep everything the same (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it).
I’ve got a 2GB SD card which resides in it permanently, which is where I keep my files (and from which I run PortableApps). The only other accessory I’ve added is a Kensington BlueTooth adapter which also resides semi-permanently in the side of my EEE. It’s proven super useful for syncing items with my BlackBerry Curve 8310 (another recent acquisition).
